I came across this little estate during a birthday walk for my friend Rachel, who wished for (and got) a celebratory amble along the Thames from Greenwich to the Thames Barrier.
Here we are in some kind of concrete pipe.
Anyway, before we got to the industrial hinterland there were lots of standard red-brick London estates. And then this tower, part of the Thornham Street and Norman Road estate.
Plain, simple but kind of nice in its own way.
Here's the entrance.
I love the space age canopy.
Sadly we didn't get a chance to go inside.
Instead we walked and walked, admiring London from lots of different angles along the curving river.
Eventually we got to the Blackwall tunnel.
(excuse the grainy photograph, I only had my iPhone).
By the time we made it to the Thames Barrier it was pitch black and photos were impossible.
